Finally, A Flying Car That Looks Like A DeLorean
In 1985, time travel was the talk of the world. This went hand in hand with the DMC DeLorean, an oddly shaped vehicle. While this may be an odd pairing, anyone who's watched ‘Back To The Future’ will understand. Featuring a time-traveling DeLorean, Back To The Future was a hot topic some 35 years ago. For some, this seems to have been forgotten about, not for long though!
No Roads Required
This week, Urban Aeronautics has announced that it’s partnering with hydrogen fuel cell maker HyPoint to devise a hydrogen-powered flying car. While the car itself is extremely high tech and futuristic, the external design is quite retro. Coincidentally, it bears an uncanny resemblance to the time-traveling DeLorean featured in the 1985 film.
Perspective Is Everything
With this car, perspective is everything. From the side, anyone would have been forgiven for thinking it was a smoother version of the DeLorean itself but from above or below, it clear it's something entirely different. The electrical vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicle has two large fans at the front and back, allowing it to perform its function of being a flying car.
Another similarity to the DMC DeLorean is the doors. While it's unclear whether or not they will be included, a previous design of the vehicle showed the iconic gull-wing doors that lift upwards rather than out. Even for someone who isn't familiar with the film, those doors alone are enough o identify such a unique and beautiful car.
Whether you're a fan of the movies or just a lover of DMC DeLoreans, this new flying car is sure to not disappoint. It's as if the film is coming to life - a DeLorean with gull-wing doors, classy retro design, and this one can actually fly too! The future is here.
