Russian state-owned Gazprom had completely stopped gas transit to Hungary through Ukraine today, Oct. 1st at 7 am Kyiv time (5 am GMT), the Ukrainian Transit Operator OGS says.
Gazprom has a transit contract with OGS from 01.10.2021 to 30.09.2022 with a volume of 24,6 million cubic meters per day.
Russia started to use its “TurkStream” pipeline, the southern gas route bypassing Ukraine, to sell gas to Hungary, ignoring existing transit contracts with Ukraine.
The Hungarian Prime Minister Orban said today on national TV he “can’t acknowledge Ukrainian position” in this conflict.
Meanwhile, gas spot price in Europe has exceeded $1,200 per 1,000 ccm. Early this week: $1,100, last week: $1,000. All-time highs are being hit continuously.
