Ellen DeGeneres confirms she moved to the UK because of Trump and is staying there

Ellen DeGeneres has confirmed that she relocated to the UK after Donald Trump won the 2024 presidential election. She and her wife, Portia de Rossi, moved to the Cotswolds in November, initially planning to spend part of the year there. Following the election, DeGeneres decided to stay, stating, “We’re like, ‘We’re staying here.’”

She described life in the UK as “just better” and expressed admiration for its beauty and politeness. DeGeneres and de Rossi are considering getting remarried due to concerns about the status of gay marriage in the US. She criticized attempts by the Southern Baptist Convention to reverse same-sex marriage, emphasizing the ongoing challenges for LGBTQ+ individuals.
