The french sprint champion Christophe Lemaitre, 4 times European champion, will not compete in the Olympics in Tokyo because of the vaccine.
This decision was taken with his technical staff, because the athlete “is not at 100% of his physical means, following in particular bad reactions to the vaccines against the Covid-19”, he said in an official statement.
“There was a period when his tests were excellent, at the same level as before and then he got the vaccine, we didn’t recognize him anymore,” said Pierre Carraz, one of his coaches.
“Obviously, it’s difficult for me to make this type of decision. But you have to be realistic, I am not in a position to defend my chances […] I must resolve to give up", explained Lemaître.
