Suspect in UHC CEO hit found at McDonald's with manifesto, gun, fake ID

A person of interest was detained in connection with the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. He was caught in Altoona, PA, allegedly attempting to use a fake ID. The suspect had a gun, a silencer, four fake IDs, and a manifesto.

Thompson was shot outside a Manhattan hotel while heading to an investors’ conference. The shooter ambushed him, firing multiple shots before fleeing on an e-bike. Thompson later died at the hospital.

The person of interest has been ID’d as Luigi M. Mangione, an ex-Ivy League student who has subscribed to anti-capitalist and climate-change causes.

Law enforcement revealed that the shooter is believed to have intentionally targeted Thompson, who had received threats related to his position. The motive remains unclear, and the NYPD is investigating further.
