Top US oilfield firm Halliburton hit by 'cyberattack'

Halliburton, a leading US oilfield services firm, was struck by a cyberattack affecting its north Houston operations and global connectivity. Employees were advised against connecting to internal networks due to the incident. Cyberattacks have increasingly targeted the energy sector; a notable example was the 2021 Colonial Pipeline ransomware attack, which caused fuel shortages and price spikes. Other major companies like UnitedHealth Group and MGM Resorts have also faced similar attacks. Halliburton, the world's second largest oil service company, has not yet commented on the situation.
