Top US commander in Europe: NATO must be ready for two-front conflict with Russia and China

Gen. Alexus G. Grynkewich, the top U.S. commander in Europe, warned that NATO must prepare for potential simultaneous conflicts with Russia and China, citing 2027 as a critical year. He emphasized the urgency for allies to enhance their readiness, saying, “We’re going to need every bit of kit and equipment and munitions that we can in order to beat that.”

Grynkewich mentioned the risks of coordinated attacks if China targets Taiwan, warning that this could lead to global conflict. Efforts are already underway to bolster air defense systems in Ukraine, and Grynkewich is set to meet with NATO leaders to expedite military support. He reiterated the importance of a unified strategy against both threats and the need for increased NATO defense spending.
