Pentagon prepares second aircraft carrier strike group to deploy to the Middle East

The Pentagon has ordered a second aircraft carrier strike group to prepare to deploy to the Middle East amid concerns about a potential attack on Iran. President Trump is considering this move if negotiations with Iran fail.

While no official order for deployment has been given, the USS George H.W. Bush could leave the East Coast in two weeks. It will join the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group, already in the region.

Trump met Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu Wednesday to discuss Iran negotiations and war preparations. Recently, additional U.S. firepower has been deployed, including warships and air support. This could mark the first time in nearly a year that two carriers operate simultaneously in the area.
