Ukraine deploys units to intercept drones in five Middle Eastern countries

SUMMARY

Ukraine has deployed military units to protect critical infrastructure in five Middle Eastern countries: the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and Jordan. Rustem Umerov, Ukraine's security council secretary, confirmed this after a recent visit to the region.

Umerov noted that interception units are being used to guard against drone threats. He mentioned that many countries are seeking Ukraine's expertise to defend against kamikaze drones.

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has tasked Umerov and his team to evaluate the readiness of these countries to join initiatives for security in the Strait of Hormuz. He emphasized the importance of recognizing Ukraine's role in global security.
