Trump meets with Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa after US removes him from terrorist list
Former al Qaeda, ISIS, and HTS leader turned Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa, formerly a terrorist by U.S standards with a $10 million bounty, is meeting President Trump at the White House. Al-Sharaa, who led a militia against Bashar al-Assad, seeks to normalize relations with the U.S.
This meeting may result in Syria joining the U.S.-led Global Coalition Against ISIS. Additionally, discussions on lifting U.S. economic sanctions against Syria are anticipated. Over the weekend, Al-Sharaa displayed his skills in basketball with U.S. military officials.
He emphasizes the need for international help to rebuild Syria, which requires $600-$900 billion. Al-Sharaa stated, "The world watched this tragedy unfold for 14 years and couldn't do anything to stop this massive crime."
