Labubu movie in early development at Sony

A new movie based on the Labubu doll line is in early development at Sony. The studio confirmed it acquired the feature film rights but has not announced creative attachments or whether it will be animated or live-action.

Labubu, created by designer Kasing Lung in 2015, gained popularity through Pop Mart, which transformed the brand by selling the dolls in blind boxes.

The dolls have become highly sought after, commanding six-figure prices in the black market. The brand's revenue has surged, contributing significantly to Pop Mart’s overall profits.
