Senate panel approves $500 million for Ukraine in Defense Bill

The Senate Armed Services Committee has approved $500 million in security assistance for Ukraine in its Fiscal Year 2026 National Defense Authorization Act. This funding increases support for Ukraine's defense against Russian aggression, extending assistance through 2028.

The NDAA also prevents the retirement of A-10 aircraft, mandating a minimum of 103 planes in inventory.

With a total of $925 billion for national defense, the bill emphasizes technological advancements to compete with global threats from China, Iran, and North Korea.

The House version maintains Ukrainian aid at $300 million. The draft will proceed through the legislative process in the coming months.
