U.S. nuclear deal offer allows Iran to enrich uranium
The U.S. has proposed a nuclear deal with Iran that allows for limited low-level uranium enrichment on Iranian soil, contrary to public declarations by top officials. Envoy Steve Witkoff and Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated the U.S. would demand dismantlement of Iran's nuclear facilities, but the proposal suggests flexibility.
Iran insists it won't agree to a deal prohibiting civilian enrichment, a stance at odds with U.S. claims. The proposal includes restrictions on new enrichment facilities and a reduction of enrichment concentration to 3%.
While the White House acknowledges the proposal's existence, Iran's Foreign Ministry expressed concerns over sanction relief assurances. The move may trigger alarm among U.S. allies, notably Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, who advocates strict measures against Iran. A sixth round of talks is anticipated soon.
