Police say they won't investigate if your car or bike is stolen

The British Transport Police (BTP) will not investigate the theft of cars or bikes left outside railway stations for more than two hours. They argue this policy allows them to focus on higher-impact crimes. Commuters often return to find their vehicles stolen, only to be told no investigation will occur if the theft was reported too late.

One victim, Simon Feldman, stated, "What it's doing effectively is decriminalising bike theft," highlighting concerns about inadequate security and accountability. The BTP's stance has prompted calls to reconsider their two-hour policy, with suggestions for local police to take over such investigations.
