Specialist teams and online investigators to tackle violence against women and girls

SUMMARY

Special investigation teams for rape and sexual offenses will be established across England and Wales as Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood declares violence against women and girls a "national emergency."

By 2029, these units will be present in every police force as part of Labour's strategy. Domestic Abuse Protection Orders will be implemented to target abusers.

Nearly £2 million will fund a network of officers addressing online violence against women and girls. Mahmood emphasized the state must act, stating, "we're calling time on that."

This forms part of the governments VAWG strategy.

However, the Conservatives claim Labour has "failed women" by delaying the violence against women and girls strategy.
