Israel cleared for Eurovision 2026 in EBU vote; Netherlands, Spain, Ireland, Slovenia quit

Israel can compete in Eurovision 2026 after a significant EBU vote supporting reforms over a referendum to remove the country due to the conflict in Gaza. In response, Spain, the Netherlands, Ireland, and Slovenia announced their withdrawal.

The vote concluded with 738 in favor of reforms, showing a large majority among members. Germany and Ukraine offered support for Israel’s participation, while several countries called for its exclusion. EBU officials emphasized that the event is about broadcasters, not nations.

President Isaac Herzog expressed satisfaction with the decision, stating, "Israel deserves to be represented on every stage." However, critics continue debating their participation, and some countries are still reviewing their positions.
