TSMC to start building four new plants
SUMMARY
TSMC will start building four new plants in the Central Taiwan Science Park, designated Fab 25, aiming to launch 2-nanometer semiconductor wafer production by late 2028.
Central Taiwan Science Park Bureau director-general Hsu Maw-shin announced TSMC has officially leased the land, and initial construction for water conservation will begin soon. Hsu anticipates the park's turnover could exceed NT$1.2 trillion (about US$40.81 billion).
The first plant aims for risk assessment completion by 2027 and plans mass production of 50,000 wafers monthly by late 2028. TSMC chairman C.C. Wei highlighted a significant US investment to support advanced semiconductor manufacturing.
