The acquisition, totaling over 2,300 acres, reportedly cost more than $65 million. The compound includes two large mansions, multiple guest houses, and plans for new buildings designed for family and staff.

Zuckerberg's spokesperson emphasized their commitment to agriculture and conservation. Despite philanthropic efforts, many locals worry about the impact of billionaire land ownership on the island's future. One resident stated, “If our island has any hope of remaining Hawaii, this kind of activity has got to stop.”
