Two dead after attack outside Manchester synagogue

SUMMARY

Two people were killed in an attack outside a synagogue in Manchester. The Greater Manchester Police responded to reports of a car driving toward the public and a man stabbed. Three others were seriously injured. The suspect is believed to be dead, but police are investigating suspicious items.

The police declared a major incident and activated a national code-word for terror attacks. UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer expressed his horror, emphasizing the attack's timing on Yom Kippur, the holiest day for Jews. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood stated she was horrified and urged public caution. The Israeli embassy condemned the act as "abhorrent and deeply distressing.”
