Catholic bishops regret White House prayer photo with Trump

SUMMARY

Two Catholic bishops apologized after a White House meeting that produced photos and video of them praying with President Donald Trump.

Milwaukee Archbishop Jeffrey Grob said the images were released without participants’ consent and he regretted the harm caused. Bishop William Joensen said he was taken advantage of and wished he had been more cautious.

The White House declined to say if consent was given and defended the president. The meeting addressed immigration, religious-worker visas, abortion and school tax credits. U.S. bishops remain divided on Trump’s policies.
