Amazon, Google, Meta, Microsoft, xAI, Oracle and OpenAI will visit the White House March 4th
Leaders from Amazon, Google, Meta, Microsoft, xAI, Oracle and OpenAI will converge at the White House on March 4th for a high-level summit on artificial intelligence and energy.
The seven companies driving the global AI development will formally sign the Rate Payer Protection Pledge announced by President Trump during his State of the Union address. Under the agreement the companies will be allowed to build, bring or buy their own dedicated power supply for new data centers.
This direct coordination with the administration ensures Americans’ electricity bills will not rise amid surging demand from AI infrastructure, and also allows the mega companies to become their own private electric companies and suppliers.
Trump highlighted the old national grid cannot handle the massive electricity needs. “We’re telling the major tech companies that they have the obligation to provide for their own power needs,” he declared. “They can build their own plant. They’re going to produce their own electricity.”
Secretary of Energy Chris Wright and White House science and technology director Michael Kratsios are leading the effort alongside Trump.
The companies further agree to long-term measures that lower electricity prices for consumers.
