Chinese diplomat threatens to decapitate new Japanese PM for Taiwan comments

Japan's new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi warned that a Chinese blockade of Taiwan could pose a "survival-threatening situation" for Japan. In response, Chinese consul general Xue Jian threatened her, saying he would not hesitate to "cut it off" without regard.

This remark was condemned by Japan’s government, which lodged a formal protest. China defended Xue's comments, claiming they were in reaction to Takaichi’s "wrongful" statements. Takaichi later clarified her comments were "hypothetical" and promised to avoid similar remarks. The tensions reflect worsening relations between Japan and China.
