China building SAM sites that allow missiles to be fired from within bunkers

China is constructing facilities with hardened shelters featuring retractable roofs along its border with India. These sites are designed for surface-to-air missiles launched from within, reflecting a growing trend in military infrastructure hardening. Geospatial intelligence firm AllSource Analysis identified two such sites, one in Gar County and another near Pangong Lake, using satellite imagery.

These new air defense sites offer protection against threats and complicate enemy targeting. The shelters enhance the People's Liberation Army's anti-access capabilities while standardizing military operations in future developments.
