Robert Mugabe's son appears in court on drug charge

SUMMARY

Robert Mugabe Jr., son of former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, has been charged with drug possession in Harare. He was arrested for driving the wrong way and allegedly had two small sachets of cannabis in his bag.

Police also detained five others linked to him, seizing marijuana and ecstasy pills. His lawyer plans to contest the charges, claiming the drugs were found in a car with other passengers. Mugabe Jr. has previously had legal issues, including an incident in 2023 involving property damage and assault on a police officer. He was remanded in custody pending a bail decision.
