Doctor who supplied ketamine to late Friends star Matthew Perry jailed

Doctor Salvador Plasencia has been sentenced to two-and-a-half years for illegally supplying ketamine to actor Matthew Perry before his death in October 2023. Plasencia is the first of five people to be sentenced in connection to the tragedy, where Perry was found drowned in his hot tub.

Plasencia changed his plea to guilty, admitting to four counts of drug distribution after initially denying the charges. He was supplying the anesthetic to Perry, who used it legally for depression treatment but sought more from other sources.

Perry's family criticized Plasencia as "among the most culpable," expressing their grief and anger over his actions, which they stated were reckless and exploitative.
