Peru's Kallpa Generación starts operating 204 MW solar plant

SUMMARY

Kallpa Generación has launched the 204 MW Sunny solar plant in La Joya, Arequipa, Peru. This project, costing $250 million, will supply power to the national grid. A second phase, set to expand capacity to 309 MW by 2026, has been approved by the Ministry of Energy and Mines.

The project's integration included energizing a 220 kV busbar and the L-2070 transmission line. The expansion will feature 182,040 solar modules, 370 inverters, and 13 transformer substations.

Additionally, Kallpa Generación completed a $700 million bond issuance to refinance earlier debts and fund the plant's construction.
