Timothy Mellon Is donor who gave $130 million to pay troops

Timothy Mellon, a billionaire and supporter of President Trump, reportedly anonymously donated $130 million to aid U.S. troops during the government shutdown. Trump called him a “patriot” but did not name him, though sources identified Mellon as the donor.

Mellon, an heir to a banking fortune, has been a significant financial backer for Trump, previously contributing tens of millions to pro-Trump groups. The Pentagon accepted his donation, intended to offset service members’ salaries and benefits.

However, the donation may violate the Antideficiency Act, which restricts federal spending beyond congressional appropriations. This amount covers about $100 for each active-duty service member.
