Moderna's new mNexspike COVID injection is FDA approved

SUMMARY

The U.S. has approved a new COVID-19 vaccine, mNexspike, developed by Moderna. This vaccine is designed for adults aged 65 and older and those aged 12 to 64 with specific health risks. It's made using a lower dose, just a fifth of the current vaccine, Spikevax. Moderna's CEO, Stephane Bancel, stated that this "adds an important new tool to help protect people at high risk."

However, the approval reflects skepticism about vaccines from some health officials. Moderna's existing vaccine remains available for anyone ages 6 months and older. Recent changes in CDC recommendations complicate the environment for children’s vaccination.
