Biden's physician declines to cooperate in GOP probe of former president's mental fitness

Kevin O’Connor, former physician to Joe Biden, is refusing to testify in a closed-door interview regarding Biden’s mental fitness. He claims doctor-patient privilege and his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination, according to his attorneys. O’Connor argues that his medical responsibilities hinder his ability to provide certain sensitive information. House Oversight Committee chair James Comer has dismissed these claims.

O’Connor stated, “On the advice of his legal counsel, Dr. O’Connor refused to answer questions that invaded the well-established legal privilege.” Despite this, he complied with a subpoena to appear at the hearing. The Trump White House had previously waived executive privilege to encourage his cooperation.
