German state parliament approves use of Palantir police software
SUMMARY
The Baden-Württemberg state parliament has approved the use of Palantir's controversial "Gotham" software for police data analysis.
The majority voted in favor of changing the police law to enable the software, which aims to "enhance data processing and crime prevention."
Critics raised concerns about reliance on the controversial US firm, highlighted by a petition signed by 13,000 people against the software's use. Although some Green Party members oppose the contract, they do not want to deny police access to the tool.
"We would rather not have a contract with Palantir," said Oliver Hildenbrand, the Green Party's security spokesperson. The software is set to be implemented in 2026.
