House Democrats to force war powers vote on Iran next week

House Democratic leaders plan to force a vote next week on a measure that would require President Trump to end military action against Iran unless Congress authorizes it via a war declaration.

Tensions remain high as the U.S. has amassed a significant military presence in the Middle East while engaged in indirect negotiations with Iran regarding its nuclear program.

Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries emphasized that the Iranian regime is “brutal and destabilizing,” pointing to the deaths of many protesters.

He stated that initiating a war without full understanding of its risks is “reckless” and unconstitutional without congressional approval.
