US to accept Kurdish militant leaders in peace bid

The US may accept Kurdish militant leaders from Syria and Turkey for resettlement to help their transition from armed struggle to civilian life, according to diplomat Tom Barrack. He urged the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and its Syrian affiliate, YPG, to swiftly integrate and avoid confrontations with Turkey and Syria.

Turkey’s President Erdogan declared an end to the PKK's fight for autonomy, applauding a recent symbolic burning of weapons. He emphasized the importance of resolving issues through dialogue, stating that “47 years of terrorist scourge has come to an end.” Erdogan noted the PKK's actions have cost the Turkish economy $2 trillion and expressed a commitment to collaboration among parties.
