American Alex Honnold scales 101-story Taiwan tower without ropes

American rock climber Alex Honnold successfully scaled the 101-story Taipei 101 tower in Taiwan without ropes, a feat broadcast live on Netflix.

He climbed the 1,667-foot skyscraper, wearing a red shirt, and celebrated with spectators after reaching the top.

Thousands gathered to watch his ascent, which took about 90 minutes, during which Honnold paused for a selfie at the summit.

His wife, Sanni, greeted him with a kiss, and he later opted to take the elevator back down.

Honnold's climb had been delayed due to weather and involved sections that required careful maneuvering around the building's architectural features.

Evaluating his experience, he remarked, "It was incredible, what a beautiful day."
