World Health Organization officials prepare for a nuclear catastrophe in Iran War

The World Health Organization is preparing for potential nuclear fallout from escalating U.S.-Israeli tensions with Iran. Hanan Balkhy, WHO regional director, expressed concern, stating, “The worst-case scenario is a nuclear incident.”

U.S. attacks on Iranian nuclear sites have prompted vigilance for possible radiation exposure. No radioactive contamination has been reported yet, but a nuclear incident could lead to severe health issues.

Additionally, the WHO reported 46 attacks on health workers in Iran and Lebanon since the onset of conflict, resulting in 38 deaths. Health systems in the region are under extreme strain, with critical shortages of medical supplies and increasing civilian casualties.
