Labour net zero drive will create 170,000 jobs in China, analysis shows

SUMMARY

Labour’s net zero initiative is projected to create over 170,000 jobs in China, according to Tory analysis. Conservatives warn that Ed Miliband's ambition to make the energy grid carbon neutral by 2030 will lead to increased imports of green technology from China, which dominates the production of wind turbines and solar panels. The analysis suggests that more than half of the expected 105,000 jobs may go abroad, with around 32,000 heading to China.

The push for onshore wind farms and solar projects could see jobs created, but the Conservatives claim significant portions will benefit Chinese manufacturers. Claire Coutinho criticized Labour's plans, stating it would send British jobs and taxpayer money to China, emphasizing the need for focusing on local economic issues.
