Russell Brand faces new rape and assault charges

SUMMARY

Russell Brand has been charged with new offences, including one count of rape, as announced by the Metropolitan Police. This follows additional charges authorized by the Crown Prosecution Service related to two more women. Previously, Brand pleaded not guilty to five charges, including two counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault, concerning four women.

He is scheduled to appear in Westminster Magistrates' Court on January 20, 2026, for these new charges. The allegations were reported initially by the Sunday Times, the Times, and Channel 4's Dispatches in September 2023. The new rape charge allegedly occurred between February and March 2009, and the sexual assault charge between August and December 2009.
