Oxford Union declares Israel 'greater threat than Iran'

SUMMARY

The Oxford Union voted in favor of a motion claiming Israel is a greater threat to regional stability than Iran.

Former Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh described Israel as an "expansionist colonial state" that acts "above the law" and causes regional misery and conflict. He argued Israel is the biggest cause of destabilization.

Opposing him, Hillel Neuer of UN Watch called this view an “inversion of reality,” stating Israel does not arm terror proxies as Iran does. Neuer emphasized that regional stability is determined by who starts wars, not who stops them.

The vote was overwhelmingly in favor of the motion, continuing the trend of negative sentiment towards Israel within the union.
