Thousands of Irish Farmers protest at anti-Mercosur rally

Thousands of farmers gathered in Athlone to protest the EU-Mercosur trade deal. Independent Ireland MEP Ciaran Mullooly emphasized that the rally sends "a clear message" to Europe. Mullooly stated that public pressure can be effective, while Roscommon-Galway TD Michael Fitzmaurice urged Irish farmers to show their opposition. Tániste Simon Harris echoed concerns about the deal, stating, "It is not a done deal." Farmers are determined to influence the upcoming vote in Strasbourg.
