Iran protests and riots quelled
Iran's crackdown has significantly reduced protests and riots, according to residents and rights groups. The U.S. has paused threats of intervention after President Trump noted a decrease in killings. U.S. allies, including Saudi Arabia and Qatar, urged Washington to avoid military action, fearing regional repercussions.
Reports indicate that while protests and riots have greatly diminished, heavy security remains in cities. Some violence persists; a nurse was reportedly shot in Karaj, and rioters set fire to an education office in Isfahan.
The death toll stands at approximately 2,677, with the majority being protesters and rioters. Although, exact figures are unreliable due to an internet blackout in the country and reports of numbers being deflated by Iranian interests and inflated by western interests.
Drones monitor Tehran, and military presence is heightened in unrest-prone areas.
