Talisman Sabre
Australia hosts largest-ever military war games Talisman Sabre
SUMMARY
Exercise Talisman Sabre, Australia's largest military drill, is currently underway, involving over 35,000 troops from 19 nations. This year's exercise marks the first time activities are being held outside Australia, with some taking place in Papua New Guinea.
Chinese surveillance ships are expected to monitor the event, as they have done in previous drills. Defence Industry Minister Pat Conroy stated, "We will adjust accordingly" to the presence of these ships. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, visiting China during the exercises, noted that Chinese surveillance is routine and won't be addressed in discussions with President Xi Jinping.
