Melania brings AI-powered robot to the White House, says there could be more soon

SUMMARY

Melania Trump brought an AI-powered humanoid robot into the White House East Room on Wednesday.

The robot, named Figure 3 and manufactured by American company Figure, delivered opening remarks at Trump’s summit on AI education and safety for children. It thanked Melania Trump for the invitation and described participating in the event as an honor.

Figure 3 walked tentatively on two feet across the room and concluded its speech by delivering perfect greetings in 11 different languages.

Melania Trump introduced the robot as her first American-made humanoid guest in the White House. She declared the future of AI is personified and will soon move from mobile phones into humanoid forms that deliver utility. “Since our environment is designed for people, humanoid systems are uniquely suited to navigate and operate within our world,” Trump said. “They fit well.”

Trump envisioned humanoid robots serving as educators in classrooms, such as one named Plato teaching classical studies. This would give children more time to be with friends, play sports and develop extracurricular interests, creating a more complete person.

The introduction of the robot signals that more advanced AI systems could soon become permanent fixtures inside the official presidential residence and American classrooms.
