Karmelo Anthony indicted by a grand jury for murder of Austin Metcalf

SUMMARY

Karmelo Anthony, 18, was indicted for murder by a Collin County grand jury after allegedly fatally stabbing 17-year-old Austin Metcalf at a Frisco ISD track meet in April. Anthony was arrested on April 2 and is currently under house arrest following a reduced bond. If convicted, he could face 5-99 years or life imprisonment. District Attorney Greg Willis emphasized the importance of a steady judicial process in this case.

Frisco ISD released surveillance footage of the incident, which captured the moments leading up to the altercation. In custody, Anthony reportedly admitted, "I'm not alleged, I did it." His attorney believes a trial will reveal that Anthony may have acted in self-defense.
