Iraq War veteran Thomas Sanford identified as gunman

A mass shooting occurred at a Michigan Latter-day Saints church, leaving two dead and nine injured. The shooter has been identified as 40-year-old Thomas Jacob Sanford, a Marine veteran. He drove his truck into the church, fired at fleeing congregants, and died in a shootout with the police.

Authorities found improvised explosive devices on the church property. Hundreds of worshippers were present during the attack, and the building was severely damaged by fire. Sanford was reported to have a family, including a wife and young son.
