Reported US and Iran talks has reached a dead end
SUMMARY
Regional efforts led by Pakistan to broker a cease-fire between the U.S. and Iran have stalled. Iran has refused to meet with U.S. officials in Islamabad, deeming U.S. demands unacceptable.
Turkey and Egypt are exploring new venues for talks, such as Doha or Istanbul, as they seek solutions to the deadlock.
President Trump claimed Iran requested a cease-fire, but Iran denied this, stating instead that Trump was open to a cease-fire if Iran reopened the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran previously indicated it would only agree to a cease-fire if the U.S. paid reparations and withdrew its military presence from the region.
