Greece in talks to buy anti-aircraft, artillery systems from Israel

SUMMARY

Greece is negotiating with Israel to purchase advanced missile systems for an anti-aircraft defense dome. Athens plans to invest around 28 billion euros by 2036 in its armed forces, focusing on modernization after a debt crisis.

About 3 billion euros will fund a multi-layer anti-aircraft and drone defense, named "Achilles Shield." Greece aims to acquire 36 PULS artillery systems, costing approximately 650 million euros, to enhance border security against Turkey.

Negotiations with Israel will intensify next month, with local companies contributing 25% to the project. Israel's defense ministry has not commented on the talks. Previous discussions were delayed due to military operations in Gaza.
