Trump claims Israel might resume Gaza fighting on his command if Hamas breaks ceasefire deal
Trump warned Hamas to disarm or face Israeli forces returning to Gaza streets “as soon as I say the word.” He told CNN, “If Israel could go in and knock the crap of them, they’d do that,” signaling readiness to greenlight aggressive military action.
The ceasefire, part of Trump’s 20-point peace plan, demands Hamas return all hostages and demilitarize Gaza. While 20 living Israeli hostages were freed, only four deceased hostages’ bodies were handed over, one not Israeli, per the military. This sparked Israel’s threat to cut UN aid shipments.
Trump’s plan offers amnesty to Hamas members committing to peace and safe passage for those leaving Gaza. Yet, violent clashes, including a public execution by Hamas against rival gangs, raised concerns. “I’m doing research on it,” Trump said, unsure if innocent Palestinians were targeted.
He claimed restraint over Netanyahu’s forces, saying, “I had to hold them back.” Trump touted 59 countries supporting his “Trump Peace Agreement,” tied to the Abraham Accords, noting, “Now that Iran isn’t a problem.”
The administration acknowledges Gaza’s future remains unresolved, with the hostage deal as Phase 1. Trump’s comments, made Wednesday to CNN, underscore his willingness to escalate if Hamas resists disarmament, risking broader conflict without diplomatic recourse.
