US strikes dozens of ISIS targets in Syria in retaliation for deadly ambush

The US military launched strikes on over 30 Islamic State targets in Syria as retaliation for an ambush that killed two US soldiers and an interpreter. The attacks aimed at weapons storage and other IS infrastructure took place between February 3 and February 14.

CENTCOM reported that “Precision munitions [were] delivered by fixed-wing, rotary-wing, and unmanned aircraft [drones].” This operation follows prior strikes on an IS communication site. More than 50 IS terrorists have been killed or captured during the two-month operation. Furthermore, IS prisoners have been transferred to Iraq for trial.
