Border czar Tom Homan says 700 ICE and CBP officers are leaving Minneapolis

SUMMARY

The Trump administration is withdrawing 700 immigration agents from Minnesota involved in "Operation Metro Surge." This operation in Minneapolis has resulted in two U.S. citizens' deaths and sparked nationwide riots and protests.

ICE and Border Patrol agents will begin leaving immediately, reducing the federal presence to levels before December 2017.

Tom Homan, the administration's border tsar, has prioritized providing body-worn cameras for officers in Minnesota and nationwide.

Despite criticisms and challenges, Homan described the operation as a success, stating agents arrested individuals involved in serious crimes.

He noted the operation has become more streamlined under his command, aiming for further cooperation with local authorities.
