Trump admin halts Harvard's ability to enroll international students
The Trump administration has halted Harvard University's ability to enroll international students. This move escalates efforts to pressure the school to align with the president's demands. The decision came after negotiations regarding the legality of a records request related to a Department of Homeland Security investigation.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem informed Harvard that its Student and Exchange Visitor Program certification is revoked, effective immediately.
“I am writing to inform you that effective immediately, Harvard University’s Student and Exchange Visitor Program certification is revoked,” according to a letter sent to the university by Kristi Noem, the homeland security secretary. A copy of the letter was obtained by The New York Times.
Both Harvard and the Department of Homeland Security have not yet commented on the situation.
