A US startup building a radical 'flying wing' plane to take on Airbus and Boeing

SUMMARY

California startup Natilus has revealed its first airline customer, Indian carrier SpiceJet, which plans to order up to 100 of its "Horizon" blended-wing body (BWB) aircraft. This innovative design replaces the traditional tube-and-wing model with a single large wing, enhancing efficiency and reducing emissions.

SpiceJet will assist Natilus with India's regulatory process. The Horizon aircraft aims for a 2030 launch and could help meet India's projected demand for 2,200 new aircraft by 2040.

Natilus’ order book now exceeds 570 orders valued at $25 billion, signaling strong interest in the future of aviation technology.
